Three technologies working together to deliver a complete gait analysis.

Based on our proprietary force sensor technology, we offer fully
integrated force treadmills in partnership with Lode, a world leading manufacturer of medical-grade
treadmills.
Choose between the 1D (vertical) or 3D (vertical, fore-aft and medio-lateral) force sensing
versions. This is our recommended solution. However, if you prefer to retain your existing treadmill, it
can be upgraded to a 1D force treadmill with our embeddable vertical force sensor.
A depth-sensing camera captures both color and distance information, allowing
the runner’s movement to be reconstructed in three dimensions.
Unlike traditional
motion-capture systems, MotionMetrix requires no physical markers, body stickers or special suits. The
camera uses near-infrared light to perceive depth, making the assessment remarkably simple: step onto
the treadmill and start running or walking.
Standard camera tracking is not designed for the
speed and precision required in gait analysis. MotionMetrix therefore uses proprietary algorithms to
reconstruct movement and identify individual body segments in 3D. The result is fast, highly accurate
motion capture without the time-consuming setup of a marker-based system.

See your 3D movement and ground reaction forces live as you move. The gait feedback is adapted to whether you walk or run.
Three walking-specific indicators: step length symmetry, step length consistency and step width consistency. All relevant for assessing the status of the client’s possible movement and balance limitations.
Based on your contact time and cadence, we identify your runner profile across six distinct categories. Adjust your stride in real time and watch your profile shift toward faster, more economical, or lower-impact running.
Start a new session or view your report from the same web-based dashboard.
Session cards identify the client and analysis type – keeping running and walking results easy to
distinguish.
The client walks or runs on the treadmill. Live gait feedback appears on the screen in front of them.
The operator starts the recording. The report is ready within seconds.
Use the results to improve technique, compare shoes, guide training or support clinical decisions – with the option to export gait data for further processing.

A dedicated walking report covering symmetry, timing, joint movement and loading. Color-coded tests are compared side by side, with control reference ranges where available.
Three indicators open the report, with all recorded tests shown together for easy comparison.
The difference in average step length between the left and right limbs.
The consistency of step length from step to step.
The step-to-step variation in lateral foot placement.
The summary describes the difference in average step length between limbs, variation in step length and variation in lateral foot placement - in relation to the healthy control group interval indicated in green.

Phase duration covers stance, swing, single support, load response, pre-swing and total double support as a percentage of the gait cycle. Temporal and spatial parameters include step time, stride time, step length, stride length and cadence. The report shows left-right asymmetry and deviation from control where applicable.

Frontal-plane curves show hip adduction / abduction, knee varus / valgus and ankle inversion / eversion across the stance phase. Parameter panels summarize their maximum values and step width.

Sagittal-plane curves show hip and knee flexion / extension across the gait cycle. Parameter panels cover maximum hip flexion and extension, knee flexion at touch down, maximum knee flexion during load response and knee flexion at toe-off. The center-of-mass section provides a displacement plot alongside a 3D view, with top, frontal and sagittal view options shown.

The vertical ground reaction force curve shows the stance-phase force profile. Parameter panels include minimum force during stance, maximum force during load response and push-off, maximum loading rate, maximum propulsion rate, and time to the first and second force peaks.

The joint-torque panels show maximum frontal hip torque and maximum frontal knee torque during load response, with separate left and right values across the recorded tests.

Whether you add force measurement to your existing treadmill or choose a turnkey MotionMetrix force treadmill, you gain access to a comprehensive gait analysis report covering the key biomechanical factors related to running performance and injury risk.
One categorizes your movement strategy and injury susceptibility while the other quantifies your running efficiency.
Transform complex biomechanical data into a clear and intuitive picture of each runner. Derived from more than 50,000 assessments and thousands of interviews, the six profiles reveal how each runner’s mechanics influence speed, economy and injury patterns.
The only running analysis built on full-body mechanical-work calculations and a validated model of elastic energy return. See instantly how a stride correction changes the runner’s energy cost.
Performance is matched against six fundamental runner profiles, found by cluster analysis of a biomechanical dataset of 50,000 runners. The report gives the profile composition, pros and cons, star ratings for top speed, economy and injury prevention, plus general statistics such as profile occurrence, mean 10k race time and primary injury sites.

Energy expenditure is the energy the body uses when running: work against gravity plus work to move the limbs, less the energy returned in the elastic bounce with the ground. The three panels combine into a graded running economy score.

The key parameters behind the runner profile and running economy: cadence, contact time, overstride, forward lean, vertical displacement and vertical force, each with left-right values, reference band and average. Where several tests are recorded, every parameter is star-rated per shoe.

Frontal-plane panels show knee valgus / varus, rearfoot supination / pronation and step separation against reference ranges, alongside center-of-mass displacement and a 3D avatar that can be viewed from the top, front or side.

Sagittal-plane curves track hip and knee flexion / extension across the gait cycle against the control band. Parameter panels summarize maximum hip flexion and extension, knee flexion at touch-down, at stance and at swing, together with the footstrike pattern.

Kinetics covers the forces and torques acting on the body while running, and helps identify the shoe with the right cushioning and support. It includes maximum hip and knee torque, the vertical ground reaction force, vertical peak force and the maximum vertical loading rate at impact.

An optional add-on you can switch on per client. Shoes are rated 0–10 on three evidence-based metrics, using a regularly updated shoe database where you can easily add missing models.
Elastic energy recycled with each step. Key for speed.
How well impact is cushioned. Linked to injury risk.
How well the shoe supports the runner’s natural movement.

Both force treadmills are built in partnership with Lode, a manufacturer of high-quality medical-grade treadmills, and add measurements on top of the standard reports.
By choosing the MotionMetrix 1D Force treadmill, you benefit not only from a high-quality, medical-grade treadmill and the convenience of factory-installed vertical force sensors, but also from enhanced measurement capabilities. With millimeter-level precision, the system captures the foot’s average point of pressure providing valuable insights into foot function, stability as well as improving the accuracy of a few other gait parameters.

When you don’t want to miss a thing, choose the flagship MotionMetrix 3D Force treadmill. This research-grade system captures ground reaction forces in all three spatial directions – vertical, fore–aft, and side-to-side – providing a comprehensive picture of how the client loads the ground, generates propulsion, controls braking, and maintains lateral stability.
